Our Dream for New Song Church
After seeking God’s heart through prayer and searching the scriptures he has laid this dream on my heart. It is the dream of a healthy, growing, and loving church that glorifies God in all we say and do.
Environment – New Song Christian Church will be a place where someone walking in the door feels the excitement of those who are there to experience God. In the parking lot and at the door someone is genuinely excited to say hello and welcome them to God’s house. In the auditorium, people are engaged in conversation and animated in their worship of God. The leaders on stage will be having fun and the joy of the Lord will fill the room (Nehemiah 8:10, Psalm 28:7).
Change – Each person who comes to New Song will receive relevant instruction from the Bible that makes a difference in their everyday life. They will be changed by the experience. Each Sunday, they will walk away with something exciting to talk about at lunch with their friends. It may be an experience of worship, or a biblical thought, or a change they will make in their life (Romans 12:1-2)
Children & Teenagers – Every child and teenager coming to church will have fun, be engaged, and discover how much God loves them. They will receive solid teaching from the Bible and will look forward to coming back each Sunday. Their best friends will be the kids and teenagers they know at church. The highlight of their year will be the camps they get to participate in. They will choose to participate in groups and activities at church over other extra curricular activities. We will partner with parents in raising children and teenagers who grow up to know and love God (Matthew 19:13-14).
Growth - New Song will be a church where people are always growing in their relationship with Christ. A church where people are sharing their faith so much that every Sunday people receive Christ and get baptized. New Song will be a church where people never stop growing complete in Christ through the power of the Bible and prayer. A church where people are always growing to be spiritually and emotionally mature and are able to live out the passion of their hearts shamelessly free of the expectations of others. New Song will be a church where marriages last a lifetime and broken relationships are repaired. A church that is unified and people are constantly looking for new ways to advance God’s kingdom ahead of their own agenda. New Song will be a church where people struggling with addictions find freedom and support (Colossians 1:28-29).
Community - New Song will be a church where each person is loved, treasured, and valued one at a time. Each person in our church will have a close circle of friendships within the church. New Song will truly be a church family where no one ever feels alone or left out. New Song will be a church where lonely people find friends and feel included like no where else. A church where people know each other so well they are comfortable being their real self. A church in which people choose to make it their first priority to engage in fellowship with their friends at church ahead of work, sports, or other extra curricular activities. A church where people in crisis receive more support from their friends at church than from any other source (John 14:34, 17:11, 1 John 3:16-18).
Serving Others - New Song will be a church where people are generous with their time, their money, and their abilities. A church where people in the community talk about the great acts of service the church has done for them. A church that is known in the community as the first place people can come to find help with their marriage, raising their children, or repairing their finances. New Song will be a church that regularly sends out teams of people around the world to serve the poor and spread the gospel. That sends millions of dollars overseas to fund missionaries and help fight poverty, slavery, and disease. New Song will be a church where each person enjoys using their spiritual gifts and serving others in ways that match their God given design. A church with people who share a spirit of sacrifice expressed in ways that require a commitment of their time, energy, and passion. New Song will be a church with so many people wanting to serve that we have an abundance of volunteers in our children and youth ministries (Matthew 5:14-16, Galatians 5:13, 1 Peter 2:12).
God - This is the kind of church that we dream about. A church that is different than the status quo. New Song will be a church that glorifies God and has a tremendous impact in advancing His kingdom. A church where we experience a movement of God through our lives and see miraculous things happen in his name (Acts 11:21).
